A creative surge shaped by personal struggle
Puerto Rican producer and musician Cirex is going through one of the most prolific stages of his career. In 2026, he has released two full-length albums, “This Is Me” and “Gas”, while preparing the release of a third record, “Distorted”, scheduled for May 10. According to the artist himself, this upcoming project will be his most powerful yet-an aggressive and visceral step forward in his sound.
Behind this productivity lies a complex personal story. Cirex has shared that, after going through a period of depression, he accumulated a large body of work throughout 2025, which is now being released in a series of projects. This creative phase not only marks a comeback, but also an artistic evolution driven by emotional intensity.
From Myspace to establishing a presence in the electronic scene

The Cirex project began in 2007 as a solo endeavor without major ambitions, while its creator-Eric-was playing bass in the rock band Neuttro. During those years, the band performed at important events in Puerto Rico, including Las Justas, local festivals, rock events, the former Hard Rock Café, tattoo conventions, and numerous live shows-experiences that helped Eric open doors within the local music scene.
During the Myspace era (2003-2009), Eric shaped Cirex as a masked and conceptual project, using the platform to share his music and connect with other artists. Over time, the project evolved into a more defined identity: he adopted the name “Cirex,” derived from his own name reversed (“c.i.r.E”) and enhanced with an “X” carrying personal significance.
Throughout his career, Cirex has built connections with international artists such as Kris Kohls of Adema, Wil Martin of Earshot, and Andrés Giménez of A.N.I.M.A.L, as well as with various Puerto Rican musicians-from Ignacio Peña and the band Puya to Draco Rosa. These relationships have led to multiple collaborations, where his electronic approach blends with the styles of guest musicians, including contributions from “La Polla” of A.N.I.M.A.L, French drummer Frankie Costanza, and Hai Sagan, among others.
Although born in New York, Cirex was raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico, where he attended university, developed his musical foundation, and formed his first bands. This cultural background has shaped his artistic vision, which combines elements of electronic music-particularly drum and bass-with a deeply personal sensibility.
With a steadily evolving sound and a consistent output, Cirex is positioning himself as one of the most notable names in Puerto Rico’s electronic music scene, especially within the drum and bass genre.
